We
build teams around a surgical specialty. Surgeons and
anesthesiologists interested in travel to Central America in
late 2009 should
contact us as soon as possible. Anesthesiologists,
physician assistants, and nurses interested in travel to
Guatemala or El Salvador in the spring of 2009 please see
below. Travel to Central American countries begins on Saturday, screening is done on Sunday. Teams operate from Monday through Friday noon, and return to U.S. on the following Saturday. Volunteers can extend their trip if they choose.
We are asking that an educational exchange time be set aside
during each trip. Healing the Children can also help arrange
trips for physicians interested in providing free clinics to
rural areas.
All expenses are met by the volunteers. Tickets to San Salvador begin at $788; to Guatemala City
$802. Cost for meals and lodging vary, and some may be
provided by the host country. Healing the Children has a very
small fund to help defer expenses for nurses from New Mexico. Information is
available on ways volunteers can raise money for their
expenses. 2009 Medical Missions
