What We Do
Healing
the Children Southwest Chapter (HTC-SW) has a volunteer Board of
Directors, which includes medical personnel and a CPA as treasurer.
The Board directs a three-pronged program to bring medical care to
children in need.
Local Children - Individual cases often are referred to HTC by concerned family
members & friends
of the child and by those who have been assisted in the past.
Local children's hospitals receive needed equipment and
underfunded school programs serving children in need of medical
supplies are assisted.
International Inbound Children - This program brings children to the
United States to receive treatment that is unavailable in their
homeland. Children are referred by doctors, nurses, embassies,
and other organizations. HTC contacts US doctors, nurses,
Hospitals to donate services and assists with arranging
transportation for the child, often using donated frequent flyer
miles.
Medical Teams - US doctors and nurses travel to foreign
countries to perform on-site surgeries. Hospitals, medical
supply and pharmaceutical companies donate supplies for the
trips.
More About the Southwest
Chapter - A printer friendly brochure in .pdf format
with more details.
Naturally, HTC needs money,
and donations have a direct correlation to the number of children we
can help. Funding to provide the healing care comes from individual
donations and grants from organizations. In New Mexico you can specify that your
donations to United Way and other such philanthropic organizations
go specifically to HTC Southwest Chapter.
HTC also needs volunteers to help with our newsletter, data base
and fundraising. Can you
help?
